BigRooster,

The key is to find the weed edges or run stuff over the top of the weeds like a shallow crankbait.  I catch fish in Big Muskego and the weeds there are out of control like you would not believe.

Ned rig still works, just use a lighter jig head and keep it off the weeds or even use a old school grub with a slow retrieve.

I can't comment on live bait as I don't use it.

Thanks Snorkel but what would u recommend here and now in late fall and how would u regulate a ned Head with all those weeds.. ???

I would think a Lindy rig better with all those weeds.. it seems impossible to use a Drop shot also. so hard to regulate how deep the weeds are..

Spring is so easy to just fish the shores. Fall seems a time for slow Trolling and not casting.. but live bait is best. NIght crawler or minnow

Try a old school grub on a ned rig jig head with a 2.0 hook and when bass are in the summer pattern they are deep.  Toss the grub out and let it sink and count the seconds to get it to the depth you want, then lift the rod tip and let it fall again, this creates a pendulum motion and 9 out 10 time the bass will it it on the fall and you have to watch the line.

That's how I catch them in the summer in deep water, or use a swim jig with a grub or craw trailer.

Zoom flukes on a jig head are also great for deep summer bass, or a deep running crankbait.

Well thanks I think. .I would love to know what methods of fishing you are using... ie. .bait, Plastic etc.. I am not a big fan of Drop Shot in such abundant weeds.. I am aware there are big bass in lake of which I caught in fall with a nighcrawler and worm harness with blades. and beads.. slow troll and casting..

I have also caught smaller bass in spring.. on plastic worms. whacky presentation but I still contend the fishing is very slow no matter what technique or depth. I have all the electronics and maps of lake. of which help me Zero..

Wish they had more fish.

Rooster, I agree with BW's previous post.  Typically, I only fish deep, clear lakes.  One that I fish has similar structure to Beulah and has a high number of jet skis and power boats.  In summer, I fish deep structure and when they see the size of the bass that I catch they are amazed.  I only fish at depths below 15 feet.  Study the lake maps.

Rooster. I believe a local sports club stocks fish in Beulah. I've fished here at all times. There are big fish out there, and you can catch them during the day. I wouldn't approach this lake with your typical southern Wisconsin tactics. Study your topographic map. Or fish lakes in Illinois instead

Don't waste your time on daytime fishing on this lake.. As you can see these fishing tournaments are done in and thru the evening hours.  These fish are dormant during daytime.  Unless u want to fish for Perch with bobber and a worm or you want to work on your suntan don't bother. There is no other species besides large mouth bass and absolutely no management on lake regarding stocking additional species.  This is a Sailing Lake and water skiing lake.
