Can't wait to have you back in town big boy.
Used to fish Lake Alice as a kid, it has been at least 5-7 years since I've been up there. How has the fishing been and the health of the lake? How has the season been? My goal is to fish for muskie, bass and northern and go the weekend of 9/7
would anyone prefer Lake Nokomis or Lake Mohawksin instead?
S&M, I haven't fished Alice for about 4 or 5 years but in the past I would fish the shore line going north from Pine Point Resort. Just before the lake turns west there is a big house with a red metal roof, big depth changes here, have hooked up on muskies on this shore line. Continue west, steep drop off and downed wood here. The next bay is 17 feet deep loaded with stumps, use orange top water lures here. At the end of this little bay you come to an small island with a cabin on it. Fish the island guarding a bigger bay, its only 5 feet deep in that bay, fish it if you have time but dont spend too much time in there. Continue west pounding the shore line all the way around the point heading towards the dam. Good luck
Been out musky fishing 4 times on alice this year. Had one small musky follow off of a shallow weedy point. Is the musky fishing always pretty challenging on this body of water? I've been fishing mostly weed beds, saddles, and stumpfields and have had no luck.
Fished Friday and Saturday Nights, with differing results. Saturday being the better night after storms rolled through about 4:00pm I fished the South bays near Sunny Point and in a 10 minute span landed and released 6 walleye all on a Flicker Shad cast parallel to the shore. All were in the 12"-14" range but made for a lot of quick fun action. Hoping to catch a few panfish I began dragging a crawler on the bottom. Instead of bluegills I caught 2 legals on ultralite gear. Slow retrieve, just before sunset. Released at least 5 other short eyes. Even managed a pumpkinseed on the same Flicker Shad.
Fished Saturday PM.. Found plenty of shallows with 62-64 temps.
Bluegills were on fire. Kept 15 but could have taken 25. All 8-9inches.
On side note, I stopped at Aquatic arts for bait. I was surprised how out of touch their info was. I was told water temp was 52 and that it "way too early for bluegills". Just goes to show it is better not even to ask, just go fishing and find out for yourself.
