How did your group do? We are heading up next week and were wondering if you had any tips to pass on. We are a multi-species family, so looking for any information!

Hello Heading up with the family to a cabin on lac vieux desert the 2nd week of august.  I used to fish this lake often about 20 years ago, but wondering if anyone has any general advice.  it seems like the reports show less and less for this body of water in summer the last few years.  anyone know how the weeds are this year?  are there areas of the lake that stay open enough for some tubing for the kids when they are bored of fishing?  now that trolling is allowed (2 lines per boat) anyone ever do any good or raise any fish that way?

thanks,

kpampja

We gave a good effort this weekend. We had our Annual  musky outting .Hillside had a tournament. 2 muskies were caught. Most of our group seen nothing. I have been fishing this lake for 30 years. I think the musky population is way down from the late 80's to early 2000's.for the last 5 years our group has seen fewer fish every year. I'm not saying there is no musky. But our group all agrees there are fewer musky. The panfish numbers. Seem great. Alto of small crappies and pike Everywhere. This is just my opinion.

Depends what species you looking for?

Rice bay for panfish, middle of lake for perch. Bass near shallow shorelines.
