Heading up this weekend to visit my daughter and do a little fishing. Anyone been out here lately, what can I expect sounds like small walleyes and bass? Thanks!

My son lives on Katherine and as of a day or two ago there was still open steaming water on much of the lake. Predictions call for warm weather in the coming days. The town had the landing plowed in earlier when we had some snow, but now, of course, most of that snow is gone.

I was wondering about that a couple years ago. I checked it out from Lake Tomahawk side and looks like the DNR blocked off that end. Maybe portage a canoe. But not going to get a motor boat through there at all

Unbelievable action on smallmouth around the islands. Couple largemouth and rock bass as well. Just up for the week, any have any advice to get a couple walleyes? Thanks!

Rented a house on the north end of this lake and fished every day last week. Caught all the smallies you'd ever want, only 6 walleyes, and a bunch of large mouth, perch, crappies, and bluegills. If anyone is going up to Katherine for the first time and want some help just message me. I'd be happy to help.

Lots of traffic out here today. Great action, but not what I expected. I tried a new spot I marked this past summer. Though I'd pick up a few walleyes and some perch - - - not quite. I caught small mouth bass continually - lost count after 15. It took me an hour and a half to get my third line in. Size ranged from 11" to just under 18". Great fun on jig poles - they all lived again to fight another day.

I found the same thing regarding dead spots that were great the last two years.  GPS shows I'm in the "right spots".  I also found out that the weed cover that was present last year is gone now.  I've picked up some 'eyes & perch in some new spots, but it's fairly slow.
