MOON PHASE (16%)
Waning Crescent

CONDITIONS
Sunny

AIR TEMP
71° - 75° F

I will agree with previous comments and say that the fish here can be very selective. Consistent pressure and crystal clear water make these fish, especially the bass, leary of any presentation. That being said, still fish to be caught. This 16" rainbow was one of three and I missed two others from last weekend. My advice, get away from other people, fish for the ones you can't see, and leave the worms/crawlers at home. All CPR. Tight lines everyone.

Thanks to all who replied or messaged me. It doesn't sound like there's much to get excited about here in the fall. The quarry is not the reason we're coming here, just an aside. Thanks again D.W.

Heading to the park for a group camping weekend in a couple of day. My first time in the park. Thinking of packing a couple of rods. I have the inland trout stamp. Has anyone caught / fished here lately? I'm trying to plan what bait and tackle to bring. Thanks, D.W.

Does any one know when they restock the quarry with trout? For the past couple years I heard two or three weeks late and all the good fish were fished out. If any one could give me a date that would be great, thanks.

Has anyone fished the quarry yet this spring? Never had good luck there, even though you can see some very large fish on calm days. They tend to not be hungry for anything I throw out there. Camping there this weekend, so we'll give it a try.

Hunt4fun3; The Crappies had their big population boom about 20 years ago and they were in the lake 2-3 years - hanging around fallen trees on the North side. They ignored bait offerings just like the Bass are known to do.

I think the Urban Fishing trout stocking program was increased about the same time. The crappies don't seem to be around these days. I've not seen the concentrations of bluegills either though the wind has to be nice and quiet to see them in deeper water.

The fishing for the gills always seemed to be best in the early summer through about July 4th and late fall. The shoreline around the quarry where we fished has really grown in with trees and brush in recent years. I don't think we can even get into most of the spots we used to fish.

Most of the time we were pushing our rod tips through openings in the trees and flipping the bait out. We would reel the Gill up to the rod tip and hope we got it back through the tree branches. This required a long rod and lots of slip bobbers to replace the ones we lost. We were walking in a lot of poison ivy too. That may give you a clue as to where we were fishing.
