Adams stay away from Hallie. Half moon has several aerators and Hallie is spring fed with current. Find small natural lakes preferably to the north until we get better ice. Should be safe all over very soon here. I don't go unless its got 4" on a lake that I know very well. Springs and current s are trouble early ice. Bring picks rope and life jacket til u are confident your lake is safe.

Hey guys, the report goes like this. Fished roughly 2 hours a few days back fished what i call the south end of the lake near 10th ave/st landing. used crappie minnows and plastics. Did not catch any crappie (what we were after) Did get a few of the Ole reliable 13 inch bass. Other than that.... im waiting on the hard water.

Now for the serious question of the day. Im looking for a few guys to give me a serious NO BS assessment of what the PANFISH fishing was like at half moon this last spring and fall. I wont ask about bass and northern because i know there a very large norts and bass in HM.

I see the photos in the galleries showing a lot of average fish being caught but it seems each photo has at least a couple nice perch or a couple decent bull gills or crappies. Is this simply a numbers game where it takes a long time to sort. Or is the size structure starting to materialize? HM is very close to my home and i love to ice fish but ive always avoided HM do to the stunted gills. If things are beginning to climb back and nice panfish are a part of that comeback, id like to be there at the ground floor. Ill take an oath right here and now NOT TO KEEP A SINGLE PANFISH of truly keeper size. I would love to see halfmoon become a solid panfish lake. not perfect im not in LA LA land here. id just like to go down and know there are nice fish to be caught.

Thanks for your time folks. I look forward to the reports you would be willing to share for Half Moon Lake EC for spring summer fall 2015

Not sure about the trout, but there was at one time a decent walleye population in there. I remember about 20 years ago there was a good winter walleye bite going, but the half of Eau Claire was out there catching them. As you can imagine that didn't last long. I haven't heard of anyone doing much for walleyes in a long time. Every now and then I hear of a big northern coming out but mostly bass and small panfish.

Hi All -

I was just trolling around on th DNR website, stumbled across the stocking report. I see that Walleye were stocked in Halfmoon until 2009, and Rainbow Trout seem to be regularly stocked with the last listed stocking in 2014.

I was just curious if people ever catch any of these species. Granted the lake is not condusive to a breeding population. It would seem that there still should be a few of the walleye left.

Being as the trout have been stocked every year since 2006, they should be there as well and caught regularly.

Just curious, Mitto

Just wondering if anyone has been out much. Was out last Sat and was veery slow. cpl small gills, and a mid teens bass. Hopefully that water will warm up in the next cpl weeks and the fish start to bite. Especially waiting for those nice perch the lake has to become active and bite.

Has anyone heard if the lake is going to be treated again this year? If so have they set a date?

Catching mid teens largemouths like clock work as usual on large shiners set right under the ice, but looked a stocking reports for halfmoon and it seems like the DNR has stocked a large amount of walleye fingerlings all threw the 90's and 2000's. Know guys who used to catch large 'eyes out of there back in the day, anyone still have any luck catching them? Seems like there should have to be a few left.
