With all the rain the Fox is raising fast along with all Kenosha County lakes. Wouldn't be surprised by a slow/no wake by the weekend

It would appear I am grossly mistaken. I do not fish the dams in the spring, so I wasn't aware they were in this system. I consulted the DNR's Wisconsin distribution maps for said species, and it showed no shad in this system. That is where I derived my information from. My apologies Katprincess.

I did not intend to correct you in any way. Many people are not aware of the regs. Again, my apologies.

If you find shad, please share this with us. I have never seen one in the Fox.

Most of my catfishing is done on the Rock, though I hit 2 certain spots on the Fox when the water warms to 50 degrees. Now you couldn't pry me off of Lake Michigan. I'll spend all summer chasing silver.

Good luck!!

There is shad in fox I use them for cut all the time. Waterford and Rochester dams are full of of them in spring. They go to deep pools after that. Its little harder to find them now but they are there.

I am going to reply in sections so it is easier for me to remember LOL. My response is in bold under your part of the info... Thanks for responding by the way...

As far as I can tell from all the data, there are no herring/shad species in the Fox River system in these counties. I have been told by several people that there are indeed Shad species in the Fox and in some local creeks. However..I am looking for them in the River, since I fish the river. I contacted the DNR to confirm this and the Lower Fox does indeed have shad species...you just have to find them ;)

It is illegal to use live fish from another body of water as bait in a river/stream/lake they do not come out of. I am aware of this regulation and did not state I had any plans of transporting live fish. I simply indicated "live shad" because I would like to harvest them myself and use them as cut bait to fish the river. It is legal to use rough fish for bait. Shad is considered a rough fish.

I believe it also applies to dead fish as well. I believe most people use cut drum/carp/sucker from the river, or purchase suckers from a bait shop to use. There are a limited number of panfish species in the river that you could use as well. Hope this helps. I am aware of the other types of panfish and have caught panfish (bluegill) in the river to use for bait...drum, carp, sucker, bullheads...etc... And yes you are correct you cannot transport dead fish from one body of water to another for any purpose.

So, with that being said...I am still looking for where the live Shad are in the Fox :) Thank you!

Anyone been out lately? Curious as to the water level and the condition of the launch at Fox Rivery County Park Boat Landing. Haven't fished here in two seasons and towing the boat with something different.

Any chance anyone could post or message me a picture of the launch?

Thanks!
