Semper Fi/sh

Thanks for the kind words. I am assuming you served this great country as a Marine and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service!! I have 2 sons that served in the Marines and am very proud of both of them. They joined as boys and came out as men! Semper Fi!!

Luke,

It's nice to know that the posts have contributed, in a small way, to helping to maintain the beautiful Fox River as a wonderful resource for all of us. I can only imagine how awesome your job is, having to spend time researching our many lakes and streams. How cool is that!

Born to fish, forced to work(but not for long)

Mark,

I'd also like to thank you for your informative posts through the years. You and the other guys on the local Lake Link threads help keep me informed on how things are going on the waters I'm responsible for. Heck, your success even convinced me to try this section of the river a few weeks ago. Best of luck to you down south.

Zen,

We don't go that far south(maybe a half mile south of the Wilmot launch). I can tell you that when the river is at it's normal level the stretch just north of the Wilmot Bridge to the first bend gets pretty shallow. Also, there is a stretch from the Fairgrounds going north to the first house on the east side of the river that can be pretty shallow, too. Saw a guy with a 250 HP motor churning up the bottom thru there a few years ago. Wasn't pretty. If you have electronics I am sure it will be much easier for you to navigate.

Hope this helps and good luck out there!

I've been wanting to try the stretch of the fox from rt 173 in ill to Silverlake. I have a 21ft deep V alumacraft. Could anybody please tell me if I can navigate this area safely. How deep or shallow is this part of the river. Any advice on where to launch, I was hoping to use the launch at the rt173 bridge area. Thanks in advance for any advise especially from the locals who regularly fish this stretch.
