Fished waterford library below the dam from 5pm-7pm. Caught 4 nice smallies 16-18, bunch of smaller ones 6in max. One 6in eye.
Still lots of shad swimming around.Snagged about 6. Lots of carp too.
Fish Sunday evening, caught whitebass, drum and walleyes. Kept 2 medium whitebass and 2 keeper eyes for dinner. Fish are here, just get them to bite ;)
Started at Waterford Dam next to the library. Fished for a couple hours with another guy. We each caught only 1 fish all morning. Decided to try Rochester. 1 white bass in 2hrs. Tried everything i had in the tackle box. No luck. Few other people out there. Real slow for them as well.
That's correct, they are gizzard shad. They must be in there thick because I snagged 3 in the back this morning. Made it out for a little more than an hour this morning and besides the shad I caught one 29" northern that's still swimming. Beautiful morning to be out!
The lack of reports on this thread and the river thread should tell you people are busy catching fish right now, myself included. I've seen several LL'ers down there that are keeping their mouths sealed right now. It's been going on for a month now if you can't tell. As for what's biting and on what it's not that hard to figure out. Just go down there and enjoy the zoo and you will see what's being used and being caught. Avoid this place on the weekends or during the week after work otherwise you will be disappointed when you can't fish cause of all the other fisherman
Nothing doing at Waterford, so went to Rochester Dam. First time there this year. Starting in late afternoon, maybe two dozen carp and one sucker. Lots of rough fish around; no game fish. However, heard that a few walleyes were caught downstream near the walk-across bridge. Current very strong.
Question: I know that the walkway above the dam is posted no trespassing. One would have to scale/circumvent high fencing. There is a sign on the dam fence--Do not enter. But one other fisherman stated that the spillway/concrete floor (east of the dam) is also 'private' and police are ticketing folks fishing on it. I do not believe this to be true, and there are no signs there stating No Entry. Anyone know what areas are off-limits?
The river is moving too fast to wade across. Fished 12p - 3p from the east shore. Pretty slow, only saw one carp caught.
Meet a couple nice young guys. They said the morning fishing was slow too.
