Went out with Paul's partner Joe. We were on fish right away and after getting a feel for the bite we iced 13 fish, many were on the larger side, good quality. Travel was dicey at times with drifts and ice shards, and the spots were well off shore. Glad we had a guild. Going to try for walleye next.

ICE DEPTH
17 inches
Well we continue to enjoy some fantastic fishing for Whitefish here in Door County. With the lack of snow on the ice it really is making for easy travel along with easily being able to keep the ice houses over the best fishing each day.

Each day we continue to catch large numbers of quality Whitefish with limit catches happening every day some days limits being caught in just a couple of hours. We have been finding our best success still to be the Jigging Rapala and the jigging shad Rap some days they want the jigging Rapala other days they prefer the Jigging Shad Rap.

We have been finding much better fishing when the current is pushing in one direction or the other and when there is no current we find down sizing our baits gets more bites when the fish are not that active.

ICE CONDITIONS: The ice thickness in the areas that we are fishing is anywhere from 14 to 18 inches. There still continues to be some rough travel in areas but it has improved over the past couple of days with the warmer temps.

Good fishing and as always be safe!!

Here is a recent report for fishing the upper Bay with Late Eyes Sport Fishing. Fishing For Whitefish has been going very well with limit catches being caught daily. The past couple of mornings have started out a little slow but as the morning progressed the action picked up staying strong through the afternoon. With the changing weather conditions today the fish really seemed to be active right away this morning going very strong right through the day. We have been finding our best success using #2 and #3 jigging Rapalas and jigging Shad Raps. When the current is blowing strong the #3 have been our best bet and when there is little to no current the #2 has been our better bait. The water depths we have been fishing this past week have been from 50 to 70 FOW and when we are fishing these baits it is key that we are constantly making bottom contact to pick up the larger fish. We remove the treble hook on these baits when we are fishing them this way to reduce the amount of snagging up on the zebra mussels and we are also using these with no bait. We will be available on a daily basis for guided ice fishing trips along with ice house rentals.

Here is a fishing report and Ice condition report for upper Green Bay in Door County. We began to move ice houses out to the offshore areas where we fish for Whitefish yesterday and found ice conditions to be really good.

Around 10 days ago we had large areas that had open water stretching for miles along the peninsula that has now froze over with good ice being everywhere we drilled to test ice thickness.

ICE CONDITIONS: Ice thickness was anywhere from 12 to 14 inches of hard ice everywhere we drilled.

ICE TRAVELING CONDITIONS: Traveling was pretty good with some chunk ice along the shore with large areas of smooth traveling and some chunky areas off shore but not to bad definitely able to travel through with 4 wheeled vehicles.

FISHING REPORT: We fished for a few hours for Whitefish and found lots of fish to be present but they were being a little picky on what they wanted. We tried various presentations catching some fish on everything we tried but by far the fish showed a preference to the #3 jigging Rapala in the color of black and gold with no bait on them just very slowly bouncing them on the bottom and just waiting to feel the slightest resistance and setting the hook. We managed to catch around 25 fish in the time we fished but we lost just as many due to the light bites.

We will be moving the rest of the ice houses out later this week after the extreme cold moves out and will be available for ice fishing trips on a daily basis. Good luck fishing and as always be safe.
