Thanks Kayak. That will help with the ice out question for much of northern Wis.
I was up this past weekend and my neighbor told me there is 25 inches of ice with over 2 ft. of snow on top. Aside from a miracle, there will be ice on all area lakes. I did see many people and several boats fishing the river in downtown Tomahawk on Saturday. Hopefully, this warm weather is here to stay!
I can’t tell you exactly how much Ice is left up there, however if you go to laketomwebcam online u get an idea of the amount of snow and ice still around. It’s a webcam of the boat launch on lake tomahawk. A bit farther north but it puts it into perpective. There’s a lot of ice and snow still to melt! There’s also a web cam for the three lakes chain and minaqua. It’s like watching paint dry, but still fun!
Coming up for the weekend. Thinking about giving this lake a try for crappies. Tried it a couple weeks ago but mostly found small gills and perch. Are most panfish stunted here? Any better options for a less stunted fishery nearby? Any tips for catching them this time of year here? Any other lakes by Rhinelander a better choice? Feel free to message me and exchange some info. Thanks! Tight lines!
