Report from Friday 7/17 and today. Fish are still cooperating south of Oconto. Boated three Friday morning and headed south to see if we could find some more action. Picked up three in the mud off geano's in a couple hours. Had we gotten down there sooner we would have had more. 6 fish for the day. As for today, got out around 5:30 and fished until 9ish. Boated 8 and kept three for the frying pan. Inline weights at various depths have been working pretty well, lot of short strikes today so keep those three hook harnesses handy. Lots of boat traffic from Oconto south, lots of big boys prefishing for NWT and MWC. Good luck out there.
Fished out of oconto on 7/17 got out before 5AM and fished till 10. Headed out right to the oconto shoal fished on top of it to start and netted our first fish, came on a harness on a bottom bouncer, second fish we were deeper 15-20 ft, same setup. Our last fish of the day a 27" eye came deep 28-34 feet, on the same setup. It was a slow day but it's always good when you catch fish!
Fished out of oconto both days last weekend. Tried from 8-30 fow. Only caught 2 eyes between both days. Tried everything: worms on inlines and bouncers and cranks. Where are all the fish at? Think I will try the lower bay next weekend. I've heard things
Relatively new to fishing the bay, hoping to get out Wednesday, wondering what to expect for waves with predicted 20mph west wind? Would like to fish near Peshtigo lighthouse to Oconto Harbor. How tight to shore do waves build? Would launching out of marinette be any better than oconto? 2-4 footers predicted.
I have been watching the MODIS images and with all the overcast the last week there's no way to see if that ice sheet has broken up or is gone yet? any word on that? looking for fishable water from peshtigo to menominee
