Hello, will be staying Big lake this weekend, just curious what the fishing situation has been lately and how it usually does this time of year. Was hoping for some input, I've heard that the north lakes are clearer than the southern WI lakes, feel free to pm me, I'll post a report after if I catch anything picture worthy.

Late report...

I was up on the chain last week and fished Wisconsin waters only. Found eyes on rock structure in 17' to 22'. Caught them backtrolling livebait, slip bobbering, jig and minnow and on platic. Plastic took the most fish. Did get a few small smallmouth on shallower rocks. A few perch on weed edges and wood. Caught one musky and had another one on. Both on rock structure while fishing for eyes.

Coming up this weekend and wondering how the fishing has been? We are targeting eye's and Musky's. Any updates would be greatly appreciated. We will be fishing Mamie for the most part.

No special perch limit posted in Michigan Regs for the Cisco Chain.  Perhaps someone is confused by the perch exception for Lake Gogebic which is at 25 daily with no more than 5 that are 12 inches or greater.  With all the information available on the web, it simply takes some careful reading of the regs to know what the limits are.  But, "careful" means checking any Notes, Exceptions by County, and Special Boundary Water or Great Lakes regs that are further back in the the applicable state regulations.

I just checked the regs and did not see this.  Can someone post a link about the new perch limit?

the 5 perch limit is for the Michigan lakes only.  There are plenty on Big, West and Mamie lakes. Found lots and lots of rock bass on Mamie

Sorry for the non-report. Was planning on coming up later this summer. When I went to make the reservation they told me to be aware of the new panfish limits. Something about only 15 with no more than 5 perch per day. I'm not too excited about a 5 perch bag limit.

Anyone been out recently? Heading to the chain over Memorial Day weekend. I'll be fishing walleye, crappie, bass, musky and maybe some pan fish. Two years ago absolutely crushed the bass and crappie, last year not so much. Any advice would be appreciated!

I fished the Chain on Tuesday.  Had to hunt to find walleyes.  They weren't in the normal spots that I fish...shallow wood.  Tons of small pike were, and they were thick and annoying.  Went to find some weeds, weren't a lot of them coming up yet.  But, when you found some with a little green on them, that was where I found the walleyes.

Water was 51 degrees at the surface, 48 degrees 2 feet down.  She's still really cold.

Best fishing is about a week away, I'd imagine.

Anyone been out fishing on the chain or close by the area? Plan on doing some fishing next week and was wondering if anything is picking up yet?
