Marvin, I have 2 of the older C3 7000's and use them on Lake Michigan for lead core trolling salmon. They were the first 2 I bought about 15 years ago and I have caught many big kings on them up to and over 20 lbs. They hold up well. The clickers go out every 3-4 years but other than that rock solid reels.

Howdy!

Hope things are going well during the "cattin' off season..." though I'm thinking I'll try ice cattin' this winter. Still pretty partial to sunning myself on the Wisconsin River during the summer months hunting for messes of channel cats! Guess my family and friends know where my sports passions lie (see pic).

Have a nice cold water fishing season, all! :-)

I'll report back if I DO catch a cooold water catfish or three in the months ahead! :-)

Ralph (The Mad "Happy to Get Fishing Gifts" Catter!") ;-p

MOON PHASE (99%)
Waxing Gibbous

Short final cattin' report for this open water cattin' season... Drowned live shiners/ sliced n' diced shiners below Petenwell Dam this fine, chilly December morning... to no avail! :-( Too late in the season, me thinks. Stalled at 402 channel cats this season... a high water mark for me! Lookin' forward to "ice cattin'" with CRAWDADDY and other cat crazy Lake Lakers this winter! (Woot! Woot!)

Ralph (aka The Mad "Glad I'm Fishin' and NOT Shoveling Snow in Early December" Catter!) ;-)

Ralph, Is that really you! You really clean up well!! That's a very confident cattin look you have in your eyes, kinda scary! Wish I could join you, the water will be hard soon :)

Good luck this weekend bud!!

Soooo... I see that balmy temps (ok... "balmy" for this time of the year!) are arriving this weekend, so I'm gonna give late fall, cold water cattin' one more try on Saturday AM. Gonna hit the Wisconsin River somewhere south of Nekoosa, WI (It's where a fish!) ;-p

Of course, I'll share out "fish tales" if I happen upon a channel cat or 3... Thinkin' small chunks of cut bait is the "bait ticket" now...

Pictured? A "cleaned up" Mad Catter... Usually I resemble my quarry, the channel cat... with a strange aroma of stink bait lingering about me! ;-p

Happy Cattin', All!

Ralph (aka The Mad "Really NEVER DONE Catfishing" Catter!) ;-0
