That is no 200 lb flathead. An old flathead is almost as round as it is long. They look deformed when they are real old. I caught an old flathead once, just under 20 yrs ago . It was 33 lbs , was gray skin and humpbacked . That flathead is 10 lbs.

"WE'VE GOT... THE MEAT!!!" - Arby's
Luckily, today I HAD THE MEAT... as in cutbait... as I explored for the first time a cattin' area between Stevens Point and WI Rapids on the WI River.
Hit the WI River by 6:30am armed with crawlers, Sonny's dip, and oily cut bait... Used 'em all as I began fishing 2-3 miles downstream from the boat landing in 7-11 fow. Slow start, but picked up an "eater" kitty cat and a 22 incher within the first few minutes. Slowly worked my way back to the landing (6:30am-10:30am)... Best bait today??? THE MEAT (aka cut bait). Only CPR-ed 13 cats (missed a few), but 10 of the 13 cats were... PIGS!!! Yep, got 3 smaller cats (on Sonny's) with the rest being in the 22-25 inch range! And on medium tackle??? It was a... HOOT AND SEVEN HOLLERS!!! :-0
Yes... I have found a brand new cattin' area... WOOT! WOOT!!! :-))

MOON PHASE (38%)
Volunteered to help out with a kids fishing event with Midwest Independent Living. Set up carp rods baited with corn. I had informed LITGUY this was going on and he wondered on over. Not long after we got a nice carp, then soon had another bite. After a nice battle, the fish surfaced. And, I just looked at LITGUY and said,” You have got to be kidding me!” Yep, it was a very nice 4-5 lb channel cat!
No cattin' today... but hittin' the Biron Flowage south of Stevens Point tomorrow AM and into the weekend. Any intel on the Love Creek area of the flowage? Never fished this part of the river and wondering about hazards, potential cattin' areas, etc. Anybody wanna join me in my cat quest? Just drop me a line! :-))
