Does anyone ice fish this river? if so where? does it have good thick ice?
Branch River, Manitowoc County
MOON PHASE (14%)
51° - 55° F
Fished around Highway 10 from 8-12:30. I caught a little smallmouth bass and a 24" Pike on a Little Cleo spoon, and two 30"+ Chinook salmon with makeshift drift rigs drifting Berkley Trout Worms. My friend caught one ~30" salmon.
Fished at Danmar Road from 1 to 2. Tons of salmon, none actually biting. Most looked pretty old. My fishing partner caught one large creek chub on a spoon.
Checked out the branch river near danmar road in manitowoc county on 10/2/17. the salmon were out spawning in abundance. It truly was a sight to see. I was casting with artificial green maggots and no bites. a couple came along and told me to use spawn sacks and they gave me one but still no bites. There were a few people wading up and down the river. a older man who was fly fishing said a 15 pounder was beached in the shallows which he returned to the water. i plan to see if the salmon are around this weekend but rain is in the forecast so iam guessing the water will become very cloudy.
Those owners are jerks come yelling at you for being on there land. Then they tell you they own the bridges too. Not worth my time.
Stream access with typical road right-of-way (ROW)
Please note: Road Right-of-Ways (ROW) may not always be 66' as measured from the center of the road. Sometimes the ROW is only the road prism itself, etc. Check with local or county units of government or the Department of Transportation (depending on the type of road: town, county or state highway) to determine the size of the ROW. The municipality that owns the road or easement may choose to discontinue access from the road or ROW. However, to do this, they would need DNR approval under the law to do so.
That's why you drove away when you were asked to wait for the sheriff and now they are driving around looking for you. People are welcome to fish on the river just ask permission before you use land you do not own to access it. It's people like you that ruin it for everyone.

Just finished trying from the golf course up with no luck. Watch out for the owner of the newly constructed house comes out yelling at you for being on his land. (Feet wet, wearing waders) He's a hothead, guess he doesn't read what the laws are he just makes them up as he goes. Got pretty heated when I said call the law maybe they'll set you straight.
