Quick update from the AMS Big 30 tournament that took place on Saturday, May 21. There were 104 boats registered and 93 weighed in the next morning. The winning weight was 846.5# for 30 fish and team Hole Shot took home a cool $5,000 for the win.

Team Obscure Adventures placed a very respectable 4th with a weight of 789.95#, missing 3rd place by just .2#. It was an amazing night on the water and we've never seen so many fish in one place at one time. The trick was waiting for the biggest ones to swim by. Our largest carp was 35.7#.

If you've ever considered trying a tournament there are multiple events across the state each year. A good place to find information is on the Wisconsin Bowfishing Association home page under tournaments where we list both WBA events as well as other events relating to bowfishing. If you have any questions about what it's like please don't hesitate to send me a message and I'll fill you in as much as I can.

Thursday's trip from last week found these couples chasing spawning carp in the Milwaukee River. Lots of shots and 20 fish to show for it at the end of the night. Weeds are growing in pretty good, but that fishing should stay stable until we get some big rains.

Didn't plan on bowfishing this year but we heard the carp were starting to spawn so thought we would give it a try. My wife and I had our best trip to date. Fished for 3 Hours and got 59! My largest was 27 lbs, my wife's 25lbs. Should have brought the other barrel, ran out of room.

Carp are in shallow on all bodies of water at this point. Base water temps have cracked 60 on many lakes with surface temps going over 70 in many backwaters across our state.

What is the carp report looking like around the northern Winnebago area. Coming out this weekend don't want to wast my time if they are not in shallow yet.

Looking to see if anyone could point me to a shore bowfishing spot near Appleton? I get up to Point on the weekends with my brother in his boat, but I'd like to find a shore spot near me to bop out to after work during the week. Thanks in advance!

Bowfishing is in full swing across the state. I've seen carp and heard of carp up in the shallows getting ready to spawn in some areas around SE Wisconsin. The buffalo were spawning last weekend in a number of places. Our trips have been going well with a lot of fish seen each time out and some pretty good results. If you have a bow, now is the time to hit the water. Look for carp rolling in the shallows on warm mornings. Gar are abundant in lakes that have them. If you have access to a boat look for them to be suspended over deeper water. Weekends are booking up quickly through June right now, but some good dates are still available. I'm also available for weeknight trips if you can swing it.
