MOON PHASE (56%)
Waxing Gibbous

Jared, catch and release musky club will be stocking musky in Boot until 2024.  Then the dnr will assess the results and determine if the state will take it over. I’m not sure when they stock.  Hopefully they do well.

Walleyes are doing just fine in Archibald, walleye fishing has actually been getting better.

Thanks whenican,

Sure is nice to have that dock there. Especially with wife/kids.

Any info/link on the stocking of 200 muskies?

MOON PHASE
First Quarter

Worked it pretty good on Saturday. Trying for crappies with my son. He had a couple, I had none. Could not catch a gill in about 8hrs out. Several rock bass though and the largemouth were a pain when trying to pick up panfish.

HFS... Walleye fishery has rolled downhill for years on boot. The days of "everyone" catching their limit the way you describe will take quite a bit to get back to that point. An 18" limit is a start but... actually I'll keep my opinions to myself so I don't upset anyone. I do agree, however, that the fishery *was* one of the better in the areas.

According to the 2016 survey, the estimated walleye population is 1.1 walleye/acre and to put it in the words of the county biologist...

".... reproduction and  recruitment are currently insufficient to sustain a quality walleye fishing opportunity."

It's not the muskies... Some the best naturally reproducing walleye lakes in the northern region of Wisconsin are also the better musky lakes too. I'm sure I just stirred the pot but don't take it from me... call your biologist and he will gladly give you the same information.

MOON PHASE (87%)
Waning Gibbous

Is there much of a walleye fishery left in boot? I remember fishing it 20 years ago and it was great. We used to fish by the big culvert and it would be lined up with boats and everyone would get there limit pretty easily. It went down hill fast and everyone blamed the handful of musky that inhabit the lake. The musky haters and the musky have similar sized brains.
