MOON PHASE (2%)
Waning Crescent

This is a bit late of a report, but thought it was worth posting. I was out on Black Otter Monday Afternoon from 2:00-5:00 and Tuesday morning from 8:00-12:30. I got on a hot bite Monday afternoon for some bluegill, and one nice crappie. We moved a couple times till we finally found some fish on the camera, but once we found them the bite was very good! As soon as you would drop down there would be fish racing up for it! The next day we headed out to the same spot and the morning bite was slow, we sat with the camera not seeing any fish. Then we finally got on some and caught a few keepers. Both days we were in this deep little section, and I think that was key to us catching fish. My buddy was a couple hundred yards away in shallow water and only caught two fish. I’m hoping to get back out there soon, and hopefully will catch some fish!

It was super packed out there like always, but that’s to be expected! And it was the Holidays!

Good luck to anybody heading out, and Tight Lines!

After this warm week how is the ice holding up on Black Otter and other places in the area? I would just like to know if I could go fishing and not end up sleeping with the fishes. Thanks!

Went out today around 4:00 PM. I weigh 200 lbs and was able to walk to the middle of the lake safely. I would say 3.5 to 4 inches of ice. Got a lot of snow that turned to about 2.5 to 3 inches of soaked slush on top of the ice. Wear waterproof boots! caught some OK sized gills. Wasn't out for long. There are also a lot of random small (2-5 inch) holes scattered all over the lake but are safe to stand on.

There is a launch fee of $3 and a nice landing.  The main channels in the lake are 9-14’ deep but I would consider running somewhere else.  Very high weed density, trees, branches and stumps are abundant among other structures scattered in the channels.  Great place to troll and fish pan fish, pike, bass, perch but not the best for testing your motor IMHO.

Hey all not a report but more of a question. I don't get out to otter much even though it's closest to me. I got a new boat to me at least...i've never ran it in the water looking to bring it out and do a trial run to see how the motor runs check for problems etc.....I don't remember the dynamics of the lake or how the launch is wondering if anybody can tell me if it's a bad idea to test run here or if there's a better body of water close by might be a better place to "test run" Its not a big boat just an average fishing boat with a 60 on the back. Also anybody tell me if there's a launch fee on the lake.

Thanks all

AO
