I'm curious to know if anyone has been out and how the fishing has been on this lake, especially the smallmouth fishing. Thanks

Anyone been out lately? Any reports on ice thickness? Debating on making the drive up to the cabin for Christmas. Thanks

Thanks for the tips. I have only caught a few smallies and a snake northern.

Ever try a sucker on a bobber?

I fished this lake a couple of years ago. Released a 48" on the north end of the lake. Underwater rock point with a white dock on the shore. The year before my buddy released a 46" in Indian Bay. (Shallow bay on the southwest part of the lake. Hope this helps!

It's not the easiest lake to fish, but think you may have some luck if you catch them at the right time. Early morning on the skies, and sundown for the eyes. The smallies are pretty fun on Birch also.

Anybody fish this lake recently? I am headed up to stay at a friends cottage in a few weeks and would love to try my luck at some fishing. I have heard there are musky and walleye. Would love to get my first musky.

Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated.

I have fished this lake a couple times in the last three years for open water.  Picked up some walleys and a decent 46" musky (attached pic) in the little SW bay.  We launced a little Lund and always paid to launch.  Too bad if it's not available any more.  I have never ice fished it, but was wanting to and was wondering if we could access from the bar there?  We would walk, but would prefer to use a 4 wheeler if possible.  I know it may be awhile for the ice to firm up nicely.

Thanks ALL!!

There is no public landing on Birch. Birch Lake Bar closed their fee ramp because no one put any money in the box. Owners are friendly however so stop up in the bar and ask if you can put in.
