fished 12/24/18 caught some nice bass and pike on tip ups. Jigging for gills was slow with lots of small ones. Seen two half ton trucks on the ice pretty ballzy if you ask me.
Usually a good destination in the winter. I've done well there for years along with others. It can go dead just like any other hot spot though. I've usually done good if you draw a line across the middle of the lake and fish from that middle line north. You'll notice if you go most fish from the middle line and north. If you get on isolated clumps of green cabbage and other weeds, usually that's were you'll find the gills and crappies. The southwest corner can be good also and worth checking out. You'll see a point, fish out from it or either side.

Caught 3 limits of 8 to 9 inch sunfish. But only 3 crappies on the north east end of lake. Crappies are typically in the 6 to 8 inch range but 10 to 11 inchers are out there. The walleyes basically disappeared out there over the last 3 years. But the bass and northern sizes are increasing big time. We got a 40 inch northern out there this winter. And the bass actually bite on tipups out there all winter. With many in the 16 inch size bracket with some reaching 18 and 20.
Heading to Big Round today. Never fished it before wondering what to use for walleye and crappie. Where is the best spot to go for crappie and walleye. Taking my five year old son and want him to have a good time. PM please if you don't want to broadcast any tips over the open network. Thanks
