Went out for a boat ride yesterday.  The Hunters' Nest channel was still blocked.  First there is a bog a few feet to the east along the shore.  At this time it does not affect entry to/fro the channel.  However, there is a bog just inside the channel that does block entry.  It seems to be somewhat split in the middle.  I would guess someone tried to get through the center, but failed.  The middle portion is matted down tails.  A canoe might make it through, but one cannot see water only matted tails.  The other two parts of the bog--those on either side of the trampled down middle section--- are not that large.  A good-sized boat or two may be able to push/pull them out.  My small boat could not do so.

While water is up a bit, I do not see these bogs moving out on their own. However there are some strong winds called for this week.  Depending on the direction, the matter could be better or worse.

The channels to Bass Bay are open.

Hunter's Nest channel is completely socked in by a big bog. Nothing will be getting through there for a while. The water is as high as I've seen it all year. As it lowers over the next week that bog will get more and more stuck. The only hope is that if today's high winds change direction.

I told the owner, but he didn't show much concern. He mumbled something about it'll be a while because he doesn't have a boat that can push it.

The water is not as high as you would think. maybe an inch or two at the most from what I recall.

With all the rain the water lever should be up nicely on BM.

I have not fished it in two months because I have been river fishing for smallmouth instead :-)

Have to get out there again.  Have not caught many pike in the rivers.

Dropped in @ Big M yesterday, 6 Bass and 1 pike midday on topwater. The photo attached is on the big lake...acres and acres of black dead sludge like weedgrowth. Its attached to the lake bottom, water is fairly clear around it but aesthetically its a total bummer.

Good luck to all the goose hunters next weekend.

I have a 14' boat with a 20 hp  and have used this launch over 30 times this season.  Felt a bump on one trip out.  Otherwise, no problems in or out.  Stay in the center and the weeds are no problem either.  I feel that the channel makes for a quiet, easy launch on a windy day.  And if I am going to Bass Bay, this launch is by far the best to use.
