My family has had a cabin on the SW shore for 30+ years. I'd be very leary of driving any vehicle out there this year, especially a full size truck. The ice bite has been awful out there this year. Fished it hard over Christmas and late January... completely skunked. Didn't try the deep crappie hole, but talked to others who had and they had the same results. Usually see action on tip ups for northern, but not even so much as a single flag. I think the late freeze coupled with the inches upon inches of rain we got last fall have really impacted their feeding patterns. Anybody else experience similar results on other lakes this year that are typically decent? Thoughts on the impact that the unusual amounts of late rainfall might have on a fishery?

Hey guys my son and i were thinkin of zippin up to big moon this weekend. Ive fished it a few times when i was younger. meaning 25 years ago.

I was just curious how the old lake is doing? We used to catch really nice perch and muskies. and at night we got walleyes right off the docks.

Is this still a good little lake to burn a day on?

Thanks for info

I was out there yesterday throwing for musky. Pike were active chasing bucktails, though I didn't land any (they kept hitting the big twister tail rather than the actual bait). Saw quite a few crappie and sunfish feeding at the surface, probably chasing a mayfly hatch. My dad caught a few bass throwing frogs way up into heavy cover. Others seemed to be bobber fishing weed edges, didn't see them catching a whole lot though.

First time on this lake and the the locals said the water was over a foot high. Tough fishing. Saw some guys pulling up some small bass and all we caught was some small gills. The water was way dark when supposedly it's suppose to be very clear. Would like to try this lake again when it's back to "normal."

Good luck and tight lines
