Was out a week ago Saturday, picked up dozen keeper gills, few crappies. Tossed many back as well as the smallie, rock, & lrgemouth bass. 9 of 12 gills had spawn in them. Yes, 'gills can spawn up to 3 times a year in some cases.

On lakes like Big Green and Mendota not unusual to see gills spawning in July. I have also seen them spawn in August. I fished a small lake near Wisconsin dells last week and there were even tons of beds on that smaller body of water.

Thanks so much for the info. We went out there on Wednesday last week and didn't do so hot. My hubby caught a northern and his friend and I had a few nibbles but that was it. We were fishing in about 8- 13ft. of water. Our friend was fishing with a slip bobber, I was fishing off the bottom with night crawlers. Oh, well. We are going to try again in another week or two. I heard the one charter boat catching a bass and a couple bluegills with leeches... lol. I never would've thought to use leeches for bluegills. Well any more knowledge you can spread would be much appreciated!! Thanks in advanced.

Help me out!!?? 4-5 foot of water, all under docks, and not 4 foot away, but right under and into the docks, kept a dozen for supper seen what appears to be beds in 6-8' of water thought the spawn was long gone but here is what I found after cleaning them and doing an autopsy, any thoughts, no spawn this year and she will absorb them, next years spawn? Pic of the wife's 18" smallie caught under a dock, and released

Fished the weekend. Friday night from the pier a suspending jointed shad rap was the lure of choice. Caught more smallmouth than rock bass and one undersized walleye. Smallmouth were all fat and healthy, but nothing like the video in the post below.
Saturday afternoon trolled some crankbaits on the SE shore, no hits. Anchored and cast crawler halves. Caught another small walleye and a 16" smallmouth (12 to 15 fow).
Saturday night off the pier was real slow. A pair of rock bass and 2 more small walleye.

Made it out for a couple of hours on Big Green this week. We caught fish on drop shot, sinkos and blade baits. I caught this super fat smallie it is possibly my PB smallie but it was really short. I didnt get a measure on it but I am guessing only 16-17 inches but it was crazy fat! Most of our fish came 10-12 feet of water.
