Went out on big butternut today for an hour and a half. Walked out by the fishing pier by the school and was walking on ice between 4.5-5 inches where checked. I did not go out more than 100-150 feet from shore. Marked fish, no takers.

Don't know about ice depth but people have been venturing out from the public boat not real far out. Did see one guy in a fishtrap kind of out from his house/ cabin on the north side. This was Saturday when I was in Luck.

Fishing has been very hit and miss the last 2 weeks. It has officially become the annual "chase and don't bite" time on Big Butternut. You'll stay active switching jigs and watching the fish chase on the flasher. Walleyes are being caught in low numbers still but are predominantly under 10". If targeting butternut remember to bring your patience.

They have been fishing on it since the end of november, can't say how thick the ice is or how the fishing is.

The crappies are moving in........ Best time to fish them is after 7pm on the north part of the lake. Use the winter access on the north end you will see some permanent shacks fish by them they are surrounding the "hump" in the lake. Crappie minnows or fat waxes on a glow jig seems to work the best good perch bite on south end of lake by the boat landing they are biting all day when it gets dark they stop. Good luck be safe trucks are driving out but I wouldn't just yet.
