just came back from avoca lake, water level is over the north shoreline and the prairie area is under water, not really a lake anymore with strong river-like current, 1-2 foot visability. didn't see or catch anything, Krousan slough/smith lake on opposite side of river just west of lone rock would probably be your best bet, was on krousan yesterday and water level was barely affected compared to avoca lake. smith lake has monster carp, but its a pain to put a boat in

I went there mid summer. Caught one chunky LMB 16" and a 28" bowfin. Sister caught a 27" pike. Had to use every we knew because these fish are stubborn. 3 fish in 7 hrs. If your loking to kill an etire day to mostly relax and hipefully catch fish, this is a good spot to do it.

only thing i've ever caught out of there were dogfish/bowfin and seen a few monster carp that would be a good lake for bowfishing. 75% of lake is shallow, less than 2' most places, only deep areas are on east end and after throwing nearly everything in my tackle box, i've come to the conclusion it doesn't have the habitat/cover/food supply needed to support a population of game fish, just carp and dogfish

Looking for a report, I went to take a look on Sat. and it did not look like anyone has been out fishing. I see at the end of the DNR road that the current running in is pretty heavy, but only about a foot of water. I walked about 100 yards towards Avoco and the ice looked firm, but I did not test it out. Anyone been out, how is the ice, fishing?? Thanks for the help. Also where is the fishery, is it in town at the park?
