Did ya make it on the lake saturday?
Pretty classic seeing the morons truck in the lake today on face book. I stopped fishing this lake years ago when I was fishing on 7" of ice. Full size dualy truck comes up right next to me, "how's the fishin " as ice is cracking, water coming up my hole. Being polite I said little but every fish under me scattered as moron was trying to kill me....

We thought there was a solid 10" where we were. But, it's so darn cold we haven't done much exploring. We walked out on Thursday, but many had driven out and I heard there were more today.
havent heard of anyone taking the chilly dip on toonie, but i did see one drop through on spooner lake. Looks like he drove over a newly formed pressure ridge/heave. You can see where the fracture in the ice runs on for quite a distance.

I think we can all agree you shouldnt drive a vehicle on 5 inches of ice. common sense right? However, you can not legislate common sense. People have always done stupid things and will continue to do so until the sun fails to rise in the east.
Just take care of you and yours. I agree its sad when folks do things that put themselves in danger. but when they do make that fatal error no one and i mean no one is obligated to risk there lives to save them.
Those that are obligated are first responders and they are trained and geared up to do it. (normally after the fact sadly) Before anyone pops off about putting fire fighters lives at risk let me tell you my pops was an EC FF for 30 years. i never heard him scream about people on thin ice other than to say its just stupid and sooner or later itll get em.
