Walleye reproduction in most Wisconsin lakes is basically non-existent, besides that virtually all walleyes kept 15"-18" are males anyway. I am not trying to start an argument, but there is a reason that there is no size or bag limit for Largemouth bass on a number of lakes. Also if some of those bass were kept maybe you would catch some nicer fish rather than a bunch of 8 to 12 inchers.

The Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an open bass tourney on Lake Wissota May 30. I believe entry is $150/boat and launch & weigh-in is out of The View.

Call Shawn @ 715-577-7051 to verify the details.

Almost every bass tournament is catch-and-release. It's not necessarily a tourney rule, but it helps keep the populations. If all of the walleye and panfish guys threw back the majority of their legal fish, those populations would never suffer either. Consider lakes that don't have a slot limit on walleye. Not a lot of weekend anglers or vacationers are going to throw back those 15" legal fish. However, a 15" walleye has never successfully spawned. Keeping those premature fish has effectively taken away billions of eggs to be laid in the next few years. Sorry for the rant! Just had to explain why we do catch-and-release

Best, SF

I sure hope all these bass tournaments are not catch and release. I've noticed bass tournaments scheduled on some lakes that have a huge largemouth problem.

Starting Memorial Day and then every Monday night at the Goose Island launch south of La Crosse on the Mississippi there is a bass tourney. $20 a boat 1 or 2 fishermen and place based on 2 fish combined weight. Usually 12-20 boats a night. The sport shop guy in Ace Hardware of La Crosse runs it. Call him for more details. You do have to register and pay there at the store before monday night. I think hours of fishing was 4-8PM.
