Fried Deer Steaks, Sweet Tomato Gravy & BiscuitsIngredients:
Directions:Deer steaks should be cubed, at least 1/2" thick, all fat and gristle removed. Soak in evaporated milk overnight. Remove and drain from milk and season with salt, pepper, onion & garlic powder.Flour - season flour with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder ( careful with garlic ) in a tupperware container large enough you can add steaks to coat with flour. In a large black iron skillet, pour oil till about 3/4 inch deep. Heat for frying. While oil is heating, add seasoned steaks to flour and shake to coat. Add steaks to oil and fry on one side then turn and fry on other side till done. ( do not over fry since it will dry steaks out and make tough ) Once steaks are all fried, save flour drippings in skillet, and drain out all oil. ( do not allow drippings to burn ) To drippings add onions and saute down till done, then add the stewed tomatoes. Add worchestor sauce to taste. Add salt, pepper, and sugar to taste. I like mine a little sweet. Cook till done. ( about 20 minutes ) While preparing sweet tomato gravey, bake can or home made biscuits. When biscuits done, serve fried deer steaks with sweet tomato gravy over biscuits.
