Deer Creek Reservoir

Excellent bass lake. It may take a few trips to figure out the subtleties of this lake. Offshore points and humps are great big bass holders here. Small ledges also hold fish, as is proved in the picture. There is a deep hole by the railroad bridge where the creek enters the lake. A full-size bass boat may have trouble getting in there, but it's worth it. I have to raise both my motors, and raise my trolling motor just beneath the surface. This shallow creek channel is dynamite in the fall, and there is a beaver dam in this shallow channel. Bass smash buzzbaits when the shad move in there in the fall. As a side note: if you know where to look, there are many 10-16 inch crappie in the lake, jigs tipped with a minnow work best. Experiment with colors and sizes. Green/chart. is usually a good color, as are white/chart and red/white. If the bite is slow, just drop shot a minnow on a plain gold hook with a very small weight (1/16 oz). Spider rigging works well here too.
