Took my boy and the Father in Law out for some pike action today. We started on a point 2-12 feet of water with tip ups and quickly discovered the fish were running deeper. By the end we had all lines in 10-15 feet. Smelt on quick strikes. The fish were biting short for a while so we had to make sure to get the hooks in the nose and tail of the bait to ensure hook up.

Checking small water in NE North Dakota the ice is 4-6" thick. Due to some snow melt and refreeze some areas of ice look really bad but seemed ok when we checked them.

Set tip ups for pike. Good action and a few ok fish for the afternoon. This outing was more to check ice and get the cob webs off the ice fishing mojo.
