hey Henry and Blackwood,
our group is going out 3/18 - 3/23, sounds like solid ice conditions, just wondering what area's on the lake you fished, lots of water there to cover.
IM me if you want to share, thanks!
Fishing report from 3/2 til 3/5, ice was in great shape, they had a little light rain as we were pulling out on monday 3/6 but with thier temps this week nothing should change, we went out targeting perch and as a comparison to last year wasnt as good and fish seamed smaller, we did catch fish but it was a tough bite (10 guys 300 fish), my recomendation would be to use slip bobbers for them. Most of our fish were all caught during the morning with an afternoon bite being non-existing. We used tungstens and buckshots with most fish coming on buckshots tipped with minnow head and waxy. We did also fished for northerns one day and did fantastic. There was another group of guys out there that also did better than us. Good luck to all for the remainder of the season, tight lines and stay safe.
Hey all, I want to head out to devils lake this week and try to get on some perch. I'm new to the area and have never been out here before so just looking for some general places to start. PM me if you like, any help would be appreciated. Also don't have an atv or sled so would probably be walking out. Thanks in advance for any info
I've fished Devils Lake the past 3 years in a row, always near the beginning of March and have seen very little snow each time. This year however they have received quite a bit of snow. I would tend to think that the warm weather has already melted a lot of it and will continue to melt the rest in the upcoming days. Last year I was there the first 3 days of March and was wishing I would've brought my Polaris Ranger since it is much lighter than my truck and several trucks had already broken through in different areas due to deteriorating ice. I would check on the ice conditions by either calling the Woodland Resort or the Devils Lake Tourism office. Good luck to ya!
Heading out to Devils area early March with a group of people. Have heard lots of talk of large amount of snow restricting lake access for many. Curious as to what the typical conditions are around early march? Need to bring snowmobile?
