Northern Pike abundance was well above the top of the expected range for this lake type. Anglers have a chance to catch very large pike in Sand Point Lake; our samples commonly include fish over 40 inches.

Sauger are present but generally rare and sizes are small. The average size sampled in 2016 was 10.0 inches and the average weight for all Sauger sampled was 0.28 pounds.

Abundance in 2016, was again above the normal range for Sand Point Lake. Fifteen year-classes were present and age ranged from 1-20 years, which provides for a wide range of available sizes for anglers to catch. Many year-classes looked promising and should provide good fishing in the immediate future. Total length in the sample ranged from 7.4-28.0 inches and the average weight was about one pound.
