History & Status of the Fishery
Fish populations are dominated by bluegill, followed by northern pike, cisco, and yellow perch. Low numbers of black crappie, brown bullhead, golden shiner, pumpkinseed sunfish, rock bass, and white sucker are also present. Largemouth bass are numerous according to electrofishing data (146 s/fish) and angler reports, but were poorly represented in the net catches. Panfish sizes are small with few quality fish present. Some nice largemouth (17") and northern pike (35") are present. Cisco sizes range from 9" to 17". All captured walleye were over 17". Reproduction of northern pike, yellow perch, largemouth bass, and bluegill is good. Black crappie were dominated by 4 year-olds. One walleye was age 5 and the rest were age 8 or older indicating poor natural reproduction.
