Gun is a deep, clear, class 3 lake located south of Lac La Croix within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Several species of fish were captured in 2008, however, lake trout are the primary focus of management.

Lake trout gill-net abundance was 0.67 fish/set, which was much lower than the previous investigation in 1996 (2.13 fish/set). Net locations were adjusted in 2008 to target optimal thermal habitat for lake trout, therefore results may not be directly comparable to previous investigations. Four year-classes were present and age ranged from 3-10 years. Total length ranged from 10.9-28.5 inches and the mean was 19.6. Mean weight was 3.18 pounds.

Angling was used to sample a total of 11 smallmouth bass during 5 hours of fishing (2 people fished for 2.5 hours each). Smallmouth bass were also captured in deepwater gill nets, but below what is typically found in most class 3 lakes. Total length ranged from 8.4 to 16.3 inches and age ranged from 3 to 9 years for both gear types combined.

Tullibee gill-net abundance was 7.33 fish/set. Total length ranged from 6.7-12.2 inches and the mean was 9.5. Mean weight was 0.24 pounds.
