PRINCIPAL PREDATOR SPECIES SAMPLED WERE NOP AND LMB. NOP WERE CAPTURED AT A RATE OF 7.5 PER GILLNET, ABOUT EQUAL TO THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE CATCH. FISH RANGED IN SIZE FROM 19-23 INCHES LONG, PRIMARILY AGE IV AND V. GROWTH WAS SLOW. LMB WERE COLLECTED BY MEANS OF A VOLUNTEER ANGLER IN 1989. THE LENGTH FREQUENCY OF ANGLER CAUGHT BASS REPRESENTED SIX AGE CLASSES. GROWTH WAS AVERAGE. BLG, PMK, GSF AND HSF WERE CAPTURED WITH TRAPNETS. BLG, BY FAR, WERE THE MOST ABUNDANT AND CAUGHT AT A RATE OF 81 PER TRAPNET, A NUMBER WHICH WAS FOUR TIMES THE STATEWIDE AVERAGE. THE AVERAGE SIZE OF THE FISH TAKEN WAS SMALL, BETWEEN 5.5 AND 6.5 INCHES. NO FISH LONGER THAN 6.9 INCHES WAS TAKEN. BLG WERE PRIMARILY AGE V AND VI AND GROWTH WAS SLOW. BLC WERE TAKEN IN GILLNETS BUT NOT IN TRAPNETS. LOCAL ANGLERS REPORT THAT ANGLING CAN BE GOOD FOR CRAPPIES. BULLHEADS WERE NOT ABUNDANT. YEB WERE TAKEN AT A RATE OF THREE PER TRAPNET. CARP WERE OBSERVED IN THE SHALLOWS AND FOUR WERE TAKEN IN FOUR TRAPNET SETS. CARP WERE NOT BELIEVED TO BE PROBLEMATIC AT THOMPSON LAKE.
