History & Status of the Fishery
LARGEMOUTH BASS APPEAR TO BE THE ONLY SPECIES IN THE LAKE. PAST SURVEYS HAVE INDICATED A DOWNWARD TREND OF THIS SPECIES SINCE 1971 WHEN A GILLNET CPUE OF 20.0 WAS RECORDED THEN. GROWTH RATES OF THE LARGEMOUTH SAMPLED IN THIS SURVEY WERE SOME- WHAT SLOWER THAN THE STATE AVERAGE FOR AGE 1, 2, AND 3 FISH. THE RATES SLOW CONSIDERABLY IN OLDER FISH AS INDICATED BY ONLY A FEW SAMPLES. ONE SIX YEAR OLD WAS ONLY 10.8 INCHES LONG. THE ONLY OTHER SPECIES EVER OBSERVED IN CRUM LAKE WAS A WHITE SUCKER IN THE 1971 SURVEY.
