What aquatic invasive species are found in Spectacle Lake?
There are some aquatic invasive species found in Spectacle Lake including zebra mussel and Eurasian watermilfoil.

Join us in the fight to prevent the spread of invasive species These sneaky creatures can hitch a ride on boats, clinging onto propellers, anchor lines, and trailers. They can even survive in hidden places like bilge water and ballast tanks, or disguise themselves in dirt and sand that sticks to nets, buckets, anchors, and waders. But don't worry, we have the power to stop them in their tracks with just a few simple steps. So let's do our part and protect our waters from these unwanted invaders.

History & Status of the Fishery

Spectacle is a 240-acre lake in western Isanti County between Cambridge and Princeton. Of the 240 acres, 157 (65%) are shallower than 15 feet (littoral area). Maximum depth is 51 feet. The shoreline length is 3.7 miles and has a maximum fetch of 0.8 miles. A paved public boat access is located on the south shore with parking for approximately eighteen rigs. Despite heavy shoreline development and recreational use, the lake maintains good water quality with water clarity readings in the 10 foot range.

Spectacle Lake anglers will find an abundant population of moderate sized Largemouth Bass. Although bass up to 15 inches were present, most were between 10 and 12 inches. Walleye were likewise present in catchable numbers and harvestable size. The Northern Pike population, while fairly typical in abundance and average size, may provide some memorable fishing with fish in excess of 30 inches present. Panfish, although certainly available to anglers, may better be targeted in another lake if harvest is desired.

Spectacle has very clear, clean water. You can see bottom at 20' on a calm, overcast morning. Underwater vegetation grows deep. A steep western shoreline and the peninsula keep the water protected from wind. Good lake for kayaks, paddle boards and canoes. Popular Bass fishing lake. Also has lots of small, aggressive pike under 20". Natural looking colors work best.

This is a great bass fishing lake. I've fished it every summer for 20+years. The bass are plentiful with some reaching 5+ pounds. Topwaters and plastics along weedlines and near the docks. Also, try the swimming areas in the A.M.
