What aquatic invasive species are found in Lake Louise?
There are some aquatic invasive species found in Lake Louise including zebra mussel.

Join us in the fight to prevent the spread of invasive species These sneaky creatures can hitch a ride on boats, clinging onto propellers, anchor lines, and trailers. They can even survive in hidden places like bilge water and ballast tanks, or disguise themselves in dirt and sand that sticks to nets, buckets, anchors, and waders. But don't worry, we have the power to stop them in their tracks with just a few simple steps. So let's do our part and protect our waters from these unwanted invaders.

History & Status of the Fishery

Lake Louise is a small (215 acres), moderately developed basin located northwest of Alexandria in Douglas County. Water quality and clarity are good. Consequently, this basin supports an abundant and diverse aquatic plant community. Habitat attributes are characteristics of a bass-panfish lake. Lake Louise is connected to Lake Charley to the north and North Union Lake to the south. Navigation between these basins is extremely limited. A small public assess is located along the northwest shoreline. Shore anglers enjoy fishing off the northeast shoreline adjacent to the inlet from Lake Charley.

The fish community in Lake Louise is similar to many bass-panfish lakes found in west-central Minnesota. Anglers can anticipate high catch rates of bluegill, largemouth bass, and northern pike. These populations tend to be comprised of relatively high proportions of small- and medium-sized fish. Anglers are encouraged to harvest these surplus gamefishes. Black crappie and walleye are present but abundance of these species is typically low. The few walleye that are caught are usually harvestable-size fish. Mean size in 2011 was 16.5 inches and 1.6 pounds.

Other species captured during the 2011 survey included tullibee (cisco), pumpkinseed sunfish, and rock bass. Less desirable species recorded in the survey catch included black, brown, and yellow bullhead, bowfin (dogfish), common carp, and white sucker. The next lake survey is tentatively scheduled for 2017.
