Early bird gets a parking spot as I believe there are only 6-8 parking stations. We showed up once around 6:45am and barely made it. The lake offers good depth and structure for multi-species fishing. Bass can be located around the northern shoreline along the weed edge where the drop-off is most clustered from 5ft-15ft. Orchard holds some larger bass around this area and I would think a 4-5lber is a certainly possible under the right conditions along the northern shore. The sunken island located just west of the rocky point holds fish mostly all season. Pay attention to wind direction when targeting your side of the island. In and around the rock point far east would be another suggestion. The location of this point is ideal for fish to prey on moving baitfish and also offers a fast getaway to the depths between the sunken island in case a larger fish is lurking. Texas rigging plastics works nicely for bass here and sizing in general is larger than average for bass in Minnesota, ranging 2-4lbs. If fishing is slow, switch to spinner and downsize lure size if needed. Troll around the western drop-off and move towards the sunken island. This lake offers quality, not so much quantity. 1 fish per hour per person is standard here.
