Fished 3 different lakes in the Hackensack area and found the Bluegills and Crappies up shallow. 2-4 feet of water in the rushes. Take some time and troll the shorelines and rushes slowly with your trolling motor and toss a 1/32oz Northland Fire Fly jig tipped maggots about 2 feet below a slip bobber worked best for me. Pink and White was a good jig color for me. I caught some really nice Gills and made sure I release all my fish to be caught again because some of these fish are on the spawning beds. If you find these fish on the beds make sure you release these fish. Good Luck fishing.
