I have had a house on Van Auken for only a year now. Many people said it's not a good lake. Well they were wrong. I have pulled out of the whole lake of bass probably over 35 or even closer to 40 pounds of bass out of it. I started fishing it late due to when we got the house but overall I know how big the bass are that come out of there so I know what is in the lake. I like the lake but if you want real big bass go over to Paw Paw lake and when them bass are on beds you will have over 15 pounds easily with 5 fish. Love Van Auken and will keep fishing it until there is nothing left.

I,ve been fishing Van Auken well over 20 years. This Lake is a great bass fishing lake if you fish the sandbar areas in the morning. Also great for northern pike once the water temp dropps around october. Trust me there are some big fish out there My father and grandpa stocked the lake back in the early 80's
With Pike,walleye,crappie,perch. I have yet ever heard of anyone catching a Walleye in this lake. My belief is the pike ate them off. This is a great lake if you know where the fish hang out !!!!!
