Because the water is extremely clear, the best fishing is always deep. Don't waste your time in shallow water; both numbers and size of fish in Pickerel Lake is better in deep water. Plan on fishing 18 to 35 feet deep for bass, and 30 to 73 feet (the max depth) for pike and walleye. Panfish can be caught through out the lake. Pickeral Lake gets good scores because of the size of the fish, but they are very hard to catch, and the lake is heavily pressured. You have to put forth a lot of effort for the fish you catch.

I catch good size fish from this lake every year, but it takes very deep presentations to catch them. It is not a lake where you go to catch fish with easy presentations.
