I fish this lake rather extensively (30+ days) from spring through fall, and feel that this is one of Michigan's under fished great fisheries. This is a lake for just about any kind of freshwater inland lake species. Tippy Pond contains some really large northern pike, good numbers and good sized smallmouth bass, the walleyes here average in the 3-4 pound range with some tipping the scales at over 6 pounds. There has even been a former state record walleye taken here. Catfishremen can find good numbers of 5+ pounders. Panfishermen can catch good mixed bags of yellowperch up to 10-11 inchs, bluegills that average out at around 7-8 inchs and some really good rock bass. My favorite target species in Tippy Dam Pond is the black crappie of which there is an extremely well-rounded age class fishery. Crappies here average around the 10-11 inch range but there are good numbers of master angler qualifying fish of 14". My personal best crappie from Tippy measured a solid 15 3/8 inchs. Besides being a very good fishery, Tippy has miles of shoreline that is unobstructed by houses on its shore as is typical of Michigan's lakes. This is not a lake that you should go racing across with your expensive high end boats as there is a bunch of submerged standing trees trunks that top out just below the waters surface. These submerged standing trees not only provide structure that supports the varied fish species but also curbs the amount of boat traffic and those annoying jet skies that all fishermen hate.. Camping is allowed along the shore line of Tippy dam and the woodland surrounding the lake has an abundance of wildlife found along the shores, deer, bald eagles, mink, otter, swans, and loons are only some of the wildlife that I have been able to photograph while fishing on Tippy Dam Pond. Come on and give it a few days effort and you will no doubt find it to be one of your favorite fishing lakes like I do.

I fished this lake over the holiday weekend, and I found it to be an excellent lake for smallies, pike and walleye.Very many points, and weedlines made finding fish easy, also located quite a few deep humps that produced very well. It's not a lake where you want to travel too fast on,there's a million stumps just under the surface that could cause some serious problems to the unaware.A definite 5!
