Photo taken at the west side landing just before 1pm on Wednesday March 6th. Nobody fishing on this side of the lake. Handful of trucks on the south east side launch, including a few illegally parked in the parking lot.

The ice is rapidly deteriorating… We were out Sunday had a jump a few cracks on the Southshore shore. Heard the west side is not much better. Time to get the boats ready!

Does anyone have a report on the ice condition? We fished last Tuesday the ice was nice, solid 10-12", fishing between thunder bay and the islands was very good. Thinking about tomorrow but not sure what the warm weekend did to the ice.

Ice: 11"
It's all in the reg book I keep in my glove box.Walked (easily with no snow) out on 11 inches of ice with a strong wind most of the time. Fished V desert all tuesday and had little to show for it. Fished Twin most of Monday but went to Big Sand too. We had suckers for pike and bugs and minnows. Waxies seemed to catch the most small pannies and perch but the cam showed a familiar scene wherever we went. Swarms of small fish pecking at baits seemed the norm on the days we fished. Deeper flats seemed barren of fish and sparse weeds had new green shoots coming up and schools drifting thru. The bright spot was a pike bite on bigger baits that hit on and off wherever we went. Eagle watching filled in the slow times.

Bad Fisherman, the disclaimer at the bottom of that page you linked: DISCLAIMER: Information on this site is an interpretive summary of Wisconsin's fishing laws and regulations, and only applies to inland lakes.

LVD is not an inland lake, the remaining part of the disclaimer refers you then to the fishing regulations for correct information. LVD falls under the boundary seasons, which end on March 1. It's no different for musky fishing, that season starts later than inland WI lakes on the boundary waters.

Not saying I agree with it. But there seem to be a lot of people coming up that aren't aware of the regulations. Last year the season ended on Wednesday, it can be confusing with WI always ending on a Sunday, whereas the boundary waters and the UP end on arbitrary dates. None of the 3 match, as the UP ends their gamefish season on the 15th.
