Any ice to report up in the UP? My friend, Chad, now a Southern Wisconsin Yooper holding it down at Swanny, wanted to know the ice report up in the UP at Lake Gogebic. Chad said when he used to live near LG, he would be driving out on the ice by Thanksgiving every year. Now Chad runs The Annual CKS Fishing Tournament and says he will one day return to LG.
Lake Gogebic fishing has been very good for a mid summer report. Anglers are catching a variety of species. Most are working the weeds in 8 to 12ft. of water using crawlers and leeches catching bass, perch, walleye and northern with some panfish mixed in. Trollers are having great success running boards with stick baits for the suspended walleyes and using bottom bouncers with crawlers over the mud 22 to 26ft of water. Best of luck! Lake Gogebic report has been up and down with lots of weather changes but has begun to level out with more stable conditions. Crawlers and leeches are now the go to baits with weed beds up and anglers targeting the weeds and weed edges for most all species. Perch action is on the upswing in those areas from 8 ft. to 12ft. depths. Smallmouth have been active in the weeds and also rocky areas. Walleye are hitting in the weeds and out in the mud 18ft. to 22ft. with the best reports. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.
Lake Gogebic has once again provided a great opener with both weather and success. Water levels are high and water temps cold keeping those Walleyes active. Anglers are working jig and minnow combos near hard bottom both stationary and drifting in 8 to 16ft. of water providing the best reports. Trolling has also been very successful in the same depths. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.

Walleye season is coming to a close on March 15th but the last few days have been great for some with reports of great action on tip ups fished from 28ft. all the way to 8ft. using sucker minnows. Perch action continues both good and bad for some. With depths around that 26 foot mark giving the best reports using wigglers. We have seen some great catches come in while others never seen a fish so stay on the move for those active schools. Lake conditions are winter like with fresh snowfall. Snowmobiles travel has been good and are recommended. Snowmobile trails are in excellent shape. Best of luck! Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort.906-842-3361.

Lake Gogebic travel conditions have been good for snowmobiles. Fishing report has been slow with anglers still working the mud flats for walleye and perch. They have been picking up a few walleye using both sucker minnows and jigging spoons or rapalas. The perch have been slow to bite with anglers reporting raising fish but not connecting. Best of luck Barry (Bear) Drews at Bear`s Nine Pines Resort 906-842-3361.
