Bhandt--I live in Pingree Grove and have been fishing LBDN since 1996. If you ever need a partner, send me a PM.

fishintechnician, I live in Gilberts IL and have fished the bay for about 15 years and if you ever need a partner to fish with lets try to hook up. I fish out a 20' warrior and have fished both little and big bay quite a bit. Thanks

Ditto what Roostertag said - use the main Big and Little Bay thread.

Aside from that, if the weather will let you fish there, it's well worth fishing the shoals right now.

@fishintechnician - the locals are great when it comes to advice on fishing around this area. No one may have responded to this thread because there is another one that is mainly used with over 3,000 comments...this thread has 3! Plus, in my experience many of the people prefer to talk at the launch verse posting on here or stop in by the bait shop guy.

Personally, I would suggest stopping by the bait shop guy. I've done it many times in the past while ice fishing as it's paid off.

I wish I could give some advice, but I have yet to make it up there with the boat this year.

Slipery , Since none of the locals will help you out I can share what I know . I'm not local . I live in Elgin Il. I've fished The bay on numerous occasions . There are plenty of motels along Rt. 35 between escanaba and gladstone . Many of them cater to fisherman . I've stayed at the Terrace bay motel a couple times . It's a little higher class than some of the others I have stayed at . If you have a bigger boat i would suggest launching in the escanaba river . Very nice launch with fish cleaning facilities . As for the fishing , If you want eater walleye and the occasional bigger fish go up in the upper bay and pull spinners and crawlers on bottom bouncers or inline weights . Hammered gold blades work very good in the tanic stained water . If you're looking for trophy fish go out to the shoals (Minneapolis , Corona , Driscol) and pull spinners or reef runners or deep husky jerks . The bite has changed over the years due to the zebra mussels and gobies . Night fishing seems to be much better . I'll be up there all next week prefishing for the MWC tourney on July 31 - Aug. 1 . I can't share everything I have but I can probably put you on fish . GOOD LUCK ! It is walleye heaven up there . The scenery is beautiful . PM me if you like . I won't be checking my messages next week . Bad cell phone reception up there for me (AT&T) Cool
