Water temperatures in most Mount Ayr district lakes are in the upper 50's to low 60's.

Docks is in at main boat ramp.

Black Crappie - Fair: Try using jigs tipped with a minnow or twistertails fished along cedar tree brushpiles for Crappie of all sizes.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Use jigs or finesse plastics fished along rocky shoreline areas for Largemouth Bass up to 19 inches.

Black Crappie - Slow: Try using jigs tipped with a minnow fished along the creek channel in the flooded timber for Crappie of all sizes.

Channel Catfish - Slow: Try using cutbait fished along windblown shorelines for Channel Catfish up to 25 inches.

Ice conditions have deteriorated on Mount Ayr district lakes. Shoreline edges are open on larger lakes; small ponds and lakes are ice free. Ice conditions are not safe for ice fishing.

Ice conditions have deteriorated on Mount Ayr district lakes. Shoreline edges are opening up on larger lakes; some small ponds are ice free. Ice conditions are not safe for ice fishing.

Shoreline edges are opening up. Variable ice conditions on the lake with less than 3 inches in some areas.

Most Mount Ayr district lakes have variable ice conditions ranging from 8 to 12 inches. There is a lot of slush/water on top of the ice due to the warm weather this week. Use caution and check ice thickness often.

10-12 inches of ice off the main boat ramp.

Black Crappie - Fair: Try using jigs tipped with waxworm or minnows fished in the flooded timber for Crappie of all sizes.

Bluegill - Fair: Try using jigs tipped with a waxworm fished in the flooded timber for Bluegill up to 8.5 inches.

Yellow Perch - Fair: Try using jigs tipped with a waxworm fished in the flooded timber for Yellow Perch up to 12 inches.

Most Mount Ayr district lakes have variable ice conditions ranging from 4 to 8 inches. Some lakes had areas of open water earlier in the week. Additionally, heavy snow cover on some areas of the lakes will affect ice thickness. If you decide to go fishing, use extreme caution and check ice thickness often. Limited ice fishing activity observed this week.

8 inches of ice off the main boat ramp. No Report on fishing.
