Bluegill - Slow:

Channel Catfish - No Report:

Black Crappie - Fair: Anglers were catching 8 to 9 inch black crappies in the pontoon area this week. The morning bite was best.

Largemouth Bass - Slow: Viking Lake has a good largemouth bass population.

Bluegill - Slow:

Channel Catfish - Fair: Anglers report catching 2 pound channel catfish using shad sides.

Black Crappie - Fair: Black crappie will move shallow in the campground arm of the lake this time of year. Warm sunny days are best.

Largemouth Bass - Slow: Viking Lake has a good largemouth bass population. Some of the best fishing of the year can be early spring.

There are very few reports this week but lakes in the Southwest District are ice free. For information on lakes in the Cold Springs District call (712) 769-2587.

Viking Lake is ice free.

Channel Catfish - Good: An angler reported catching 2 pound channel catfish using shad sides.

Bluegill - No Report:

Black Crappie - No Report:

Largemouth Bass - No Report:

Black Crappie - No Report:

Bluegill - Fair: Anglers are catching 7.5 inch bluegills in pontoon arm of the lake.

Viking lake has 8 inches of ice.

Viking Lake water clarity is poor right now.

Black Crappie - Slow: Look for black crappies around deep tree piles. Fish will average 9 inches. There is a large year class of 6 inch black crappie in the lake.

Bluegill - Slow: Bluegill can be caught slow trolling or casting crawlers under a bobber around deep tree piles. Fish will average 8 inches.

Channel Catfish - No Report: Viking has a good population of 19 to 22 inch channel catfish.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Fish for bass casting the shoreline just outside the flooded terrestrial vegetation. Anglers report catching numbers of bass in shallow tree piles.

The Viking Lake water level is now 8 inches down. All boat ramps are usable.

Black Crappie - Fair: Look for black crappies around deep tree piles. Fish will average 9 inches. There is a large year class of 6 inch black crappie in the lake.

Bluegill - Good: Bluegill can be caught slow trolling or casting crawlers under a bobber around deep tree piles. Fish will average 8 inches.
