Temperatures cooler with highs in the 50's to lows in low 30's and breezy. Turkey season is in full swing until May 12. For fishing information, please contact the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery at 563-382-8324.

Fish activity improving as water temperatures warm.

Black Crappie - Fair: Crappie in shallower water.

Bluegill - Fair: Fish around jetties. Use small jig tipped with waxworm.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Find bass along drop-offs or near woody structure near shoreline.

Chance of rain Saturday evening through Monday. Temperatures variable with highs upper 50's to lows in 20's and breezy.

Bluegill - Slow:

Fish activity slowed with drop in water temperatures. Few anglers out.

Black Crappie - Slow: Fish habitat or structure higher in water column for best luck.

Largemouth Bass - Slow: Find bass along drop-offs or near woody structure near shoreline.

Temperatures warming through weekend with highs above 0 but lows below. Ice formation on many lakes is slow due to snow cover. 382.8324.

Use caution on ice. Depths vary from 3 to 6 inches. Few anglers out.

Water levels on area rivers and streams are below normal for this time of year. Front passing through Thursday into Friday bringing high winds. Weekend temperatures 50's to 30's. Many hunting seasons are now open. For fishing information, please contact the Chuck Gipp Decorah Fish Hatchery at 563-382-8324.

Black Crappie - Fair: Fish deeper water for crappie. Use small jig with plastic tail or spinner bait.

Bluegill - Fair: Use ice fishing jigs tipped with small piece of worm. Fish more active about 1/2 hour before sunset.

Channel Catfish - Fair: Use a chunk of worm, squished minnow, or liver on lake bottom.

Water is very clear. Fish moving deeper toward evening. Water temperatures in the 40's. Slow presentation.

Largemouth Bass - Fair: Fish in evening using a spinner or crank bait with a slow retrieve.

Water levels on area rivers and streams are below normal for this time of year. Weather turning colder through the weekend with highs in the 30's. Ice could form quickly.
