For information on the lakes and rivers in north central Iowa, contact the Clear Lake Fish and Wildlife office at 641-357-3517.

The water temperature is in the low 50's. Water level is 9.1 inches below crest. The courtesy docks are in at the City and Ritz boat ramps. A temporary courtesy dock is in at McIntosh until the new docks are installed. All walleye between 17 and 22 inches must be immediately released unharmed.

Walleye - Fair: Anglers are having some success wader fishing the East shore and around the Island. Best bite is after sunset.

Yellow Perch - Fair: Fish a small jig near the rushes.

Black Crappie - Slow:

Channel Catfish - Fair: Fish cut bait or a crawler from the wind-swept shore.

The water temperature is in the low 40's. Water level is 11.6 inches below crest. The courtesy dock is in at the Ritz ramp. A temporary courtesy dock is in at McIntosh until the new docks are installed. DNR staff will start netting walleyes soon. Anglers fishing after sunset should avoid nets set on the East shore, around the Island and Dodges point.

Walleye - Slow: Anglers are having some success wader fishing and fishing off the jetties. Best bite is after sunset.

Yellow Perch - Fair: Fish a small jig near the rushes.

The lake is almost ice free. Water level is 13.44 inches below crest. All walleye between 17 and 22 inches must be immediately released unharmed. No more than one walleye longer than 22-inches may be taken per day.

Channel Catfish - Slow: Now is a good time to target catfish. Fish a dead chub or cut bait from the wind-swept shore.

Bluegill - No Report:

The lake is about 50 percent ice free. Water level is 14.7 inches below crest. All walleye between 17 and 22 inches must be immediately released unharmed. No more than one walleye longer than 22-inches may be taken per day.

Yellow Perch - Fair: Use a small jig tipped with a wax worm. You may have to switch to bigger tackle to avoid the small fish.

Black Crappie - Fair:

Bluegill - Fair: Fish a small jig tipped with bait near the edge of the rushes. Use caution near the rushes as ice conditions will deteriorate quickly in these areas.

With warmer weather forecasted for the next ten days, be cautious of changing ice conditions. Access points will deteriorate rapidly. Foot traffic only recommended. For information on the lakes and rivers in north central Iowa, contact the Clear Lake Fish and Wildlife office at 641-357-3517.

Ice thickness is 4 to 10 inches. Ice conditions will change daily. Wear safety gear and check thickness as you go. All walleye between 17 and 22 inches must be immediately released unharmed. No more than one walleye longer than 22-inches may be taken per day.
