You can get minnows at Todd's Bait in Thomson. It's right on Highway 84 in town.

Where is the closest location to Clinton, IA to get live minnows?  Since RandR Sports moved, not certain and looking for assistance.  Thanks!

Late report 4/23.....Sorry for the late report but, my delay in the report is because a couple buddies and I have started a company called STUK NATION and can be found at STUKNATION.com and it is a free PODCAST covering just about anything that can be done in the outdoors, new podcasts weekly released on every Wednesday, new topic every week. Check it out www.facebook.com/STUK-1683888768533610/ and give us a like.

On to the fishing, launched at a campground between Princeton and Commanche, out between 1000-1730. Took the girlfriend out and the dog. Targeted walleyes, my thought was that they would be coming off the spawning grounds in the back channels and starting to dump back into the main river. Tried all up and down the river, shallow and deep, front and back sides of wingdams, threw the kitchen sink at them, cranks, river rigs, fast/slow, plastics, live bait, rigging jig/minnow/crawler, and crawler harness. NOTHING.....marked a ton of fish that I believed to be walleyes but either they were not or they were tight lipped. Struck out big time.

Went back to the back channel and sloughs were water temps were mid 60degs in the deeper holes where two creeks or sloughs would meet and once again the screen was filled with fish. Went to my old jigging rapala and started hammering the whitebass. All and all ended up being a good day, but still have to figure this pool out as its in my "backyard" on those days where I don't want to travel. Took a couple home for a future family fish fry, and to grab the eggs to use as catfish bait later.....(secret bait the catfish cant resist!) Then took the girlfriend to Go Fish restaurant for the first time, decent food but a better view to dream of better walleye days on the river.

Coming to fish here next month and I have never fished this pool and was wondering if I could get any advice as to how the fishery is and any tips as to how to fish here....jigging,casting cranks, pulling 3 ways or trolling. I have fished Pool 13 before in the spring but have never fished here in the late summer. Any advice would be appreciated.
